Data Architecture and Management program brings you the knowledge and technical skills to engineer big data systems, curate and process data, and ensure security to provide information and insights to decision-makers across industries.

Scholarships

Domestic students entering for the 2025 academic year are eligible for a scholarship of up to 25%. This scholarship is not transferable to alternative programs of study, terms or campuses outside of Seattle, WA.

Program Overview

Northeastern’s Master of Science in Data Architecture and Management is designed to prepare students to meet the growing need for data engineers across industries. The Seattle-based program lets you boost or launch your career as a leader, working with data scientists and business analysts to curate, integrate, and interpret data to yield meaningful results.

The curriculum integrates business intelligence, data warehousing, software engineering, and machine learning techniques—helping you prepare for the next generation of data integration. Students learn software engineering through advanced Big Data programming using the powerful Scala language, data science, and cloud computing. You’ll focus on project-based learning as you use coursework to solve real-world challenges and gain new skills. You also have the opportunity to personalize your degree with a variety of electives to match your career interests.

Ramkumar Hariharan, PhD 

Associate Teaching Professor

Role at Northeastern: Ramkumar Hariharan, Ph.D., is Data Science Engineering Faculty and the Inaugural Director of College of Engineering Programs in the Seattle Campus. Ram’s research is at the nexus of Artificial Intelligence and Geroscience.

Professional Background: Previously, he was the Head of Applied Artificial Intelligence at Macro-Eyes, Inc, and led a globally diverse team of data scientists. Prior to that, Ram was a Senior Data Scientist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, building novel AI applications to drive biomedical discoveries using large image and genomic datasets. Ram has also worked with biomedical big data at both the Hood-Price Laboratory at the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle and at the Promislow Lab at the University of Washington.
