Speaker Spotlight Series: Theo Vassilakis

Join Theo for some stories and personal learnings from working with some of his favorite big data sets, from just after grad school days to today. He will start with speech recognition acoustic and natural language data at Microsoft, move to trillion row server logs at Google, and end with physical service bookings and online-to-offline (o2o) marketplaces at Grab. Each of these data sets turned out to be much more than just petabytes on storage devices. They all brought career adventures, lasting technical insights on scalability and data modeling, as well as tools for helping real people change their lives for the better.
