Our FIRST Graduation Recognition Ceremony
Three years ago this month, I started my job as Dean and employee No. 1 at Northeastern University-Seattle. Our “campus” started with one small office where I worked and a clear vision for a new graduate campus in Seattle. With a goal of turning that vision into a reality, the real work began. We established a physical campus in the heart of Seattle’s dynamic South Lake Union neighborhood, hired staff and recruited adjunct faculty from Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Twitter and other companies to supplement our academic programs with up-to-the-minute industry expertise. The campus opened in January 2013 with our first cohort of students. We were on our way!
Three years later we now have three campus facilities, all in South Lake Union. As of today, we are approaching 300 students enrolled in a range of fields including high-demand STEM fields. This Saturday we will celebrate the graduation of 38 students – our first graduating class since we opened! These bright young minds are entering the workforce with degrees such as Masters in Computer Science, Public Administration, Regulatory Affairs, Nonprofit Management, Engineering Management, Leadership, Global Studies, MBAs, and others. We also have our first Doctor of Education graduate, Dr. Dana McNamee!
We are immensely proud of each and every one of our graduates and wish them all the very best in the next stage of their journey.
Congratulations to the Class of 2015,
Dean Washburn
