Yellow Ribbon Program

Northeastern University is committed to making education more affordable for servicemembers and veterans, and we are proud to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program at the highest level possible.

If you find that your tuition and fees exceed the maximum annual Post-9/11 GI Bill® payment, you can apply to the program to cover your additional expenses. Northeastern has invested more than $2 million to offer each student up to $25,000 per year, depending on the degree program. Northeastern’s commitment will allow 459 veterans to attend the university each year at little or no cost, which includes:

– 100 veterans enrolling in graduate programs at our Seattle campus

– 100 veterans enrolling in graduate programs at our Charlotte campus

– 259 veterans enrolling in undergraduate and graduate programs at our Boston campus

You may be eligible if:

  • You served an aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001 of at least 36 months;
  • You were honorably discharged from active duty for a service-connected disability and you served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001;
  • You are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran’s service under the eligibility criteria listed above.

To note: Active military members and their spouses are not eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program. They may transfer their eligibility to their children, however.

Students enrolled in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing or the online RN-to-BSN program are not eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program, but may be eligible for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government website at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.
